   Absinthe is a high-proof liquor (often 120 proof or more) that is usually distilled from grains, then infused with a complex list of herbs including wormwood and anise.

   Frequently served cold with sugar, it is a brilliant green color. Interesting stuff when you get used to it, but it is a bit of an acquired taste.

   Absinthe is a liquer distilled from aniseed and with the wormwood artemesia absinthium. This particular wormwood, which gives its name to absinthe, exretes a chemical called thujone which was once thought to have hallucinogenic properties. However this has been largely disproven. You can get absinthe of varying proofs, i’ve seen them as low as 100 proof up to the mighty hapsburg gold at 179.8 proof. Enjoy!
