Can I get absinthe on a cruise?
I’m going on a Carnival cruise to Cozumel, Mexico, Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands, and Ocho Rios, Jamaica. I want to know if it is possible to purchase a bottle of absinthe with thujone (wormwood extract) in any of these port cities and where (specific stores, etc.). If I can buy it, do I need to sneak it back on the ship? Can I legally bring it into the US?

Absinthe is legal in the US as of 2007. Ask for Lucid brand at you liquor store. It’s the real stuff.
I don’t think it’s illegal besides most people wouldn’t know what it is.
yes, you are allowed to bring 2 bottles of alcohol over customs
there is no reason to bother, since Absinthe, with all the wormwood you could care about has been legal in the US since 2007… however it tends to be very expensive. I usually see it on the shelf at my liquor store for about $60+ a bottle
Voice of Reason is right, Lucid is available in the US. Don’t believe all the hype about Absinthe though. You are not going to be seeing elves when you drink it. Pour it over a sugar cube and it is not too bad.
If you think you’ll enjoy a kind of licorice tasting liquor go ahead, if you’re concerned about getting high levels of thujone so you can hallucinate, forget about it.. its only alcohol, the rest is years of tales.
