Can you bring absinthe on a plane from London to Houston?

Absinthe is illegal in America, but not in the UK. Could I CHECK my bag with an absinthe in it to Houston with out any problems?

AND if they were to find it…would they take it out and send the bag without it? Or keep it in London?
