I’m called emo and goth at school and I hate it. How can I get them to shut up?
Ok, one day at school Joe walked past me and said "Hey emo goth girl." I don’t know if that was an insult or what. But I punched him anyway. Ok, so I listen to Cradle of Faith, Avenged Sevenfold, Bullet for my Valentine, AFI, and such. And so I use black nail polish and ware nothing but black clothes. But I act normal. Sort of, and now everybody is calling me that. It’s really annoying, so how do I get the bitches to shut up?

They’re probably calling you that because many young people look emo now, and many of them are just posers. Try looking more like yourself instead of looking like everyone else.
wear pink and act nice and happy and the first one that says something bop them upside the head
Just ingore them i know its a hard thing to do but they will get board first knowing it dosent annoy you and move on to some one else
ignore them, once they realize you dont care what they think they’ll get frustrated and give up.
i honestly dont think there is a way to get people to shut up people say what they want and they dont care if it hurts they really dont but maybe you can add a little color to your wordrobe not alot but a little and maybe they will try and back off and not be so mean and harsh towards you i think that people are truley rude now days and i hope that the advice you get on here will help you so they will leave you alone i really do i wish you the best of luck with this
Just ignore them. I used to be called that too, and when they saw it wasn’t bugging me, they shut the hell up. Or you could always just smack them upside the head. That usually works. Unless it’s a jock, then in any circumstances, don’t hit him, unless u r sure he won’t hit back.
Well, goth and emo are VERY different things (goths hate emos, and emos emulate them). You can start by telling them the difference. Listening to certain types of music does not make your label. For instance, I listen to a lot of indie bands. I’m not indie. I listen to a lot of punk bands, but I’m not a punk. Similarly with other types of music. If I were to put a label on myself (which I don’t), it would be Victoriana. Here’s an idea, don’t respond to what people call you. Just ignore them until they call you what you want them to. Don’t let them know they’re getting to you.
theirs two things u can do u can change the way u act to make them like u or u can ignore them
do you really care what they think? Are YOU comfortable with yourself? People in high school can be very shallow, & if you aren’t conforming to the "norm" then you might get teased. But seriously, you need to decide if you give a shit what those people think about you. There is life after highschool.
I usually wouldn’t give this advice, but try to blend a little. Like, don’t be EXACTLY like everyone else, but just have kind of offbeat clothes, but not necessarily like total goth. Be nice to everyone, & eventually they won’t care how you dress once they know what a great personality you have.
How is acting normal punching someone in the face?
I live a very alternative lifestyle. I’m covered in tattoos. I’m also engaged to a piercer whos covered in tattoos and has his ears stretched to 1 1/2 inches.
In our early 20s, clearly out of high school, we get crap from people twice our age and looks everywhere we go. The simple answer to this is to treat people who are ignorant with maturity. Maybe when they do that, stop them and inform them what you’re all about. I get pissed sometimes, just breathe for a second and approach that person in a respectful manner and ask them what their problem is or if they have any quesitons they’d like to ask you.
Calling them "bitches" only adds to the ridiculousness of your character that they think they’ve found.
Its not what you listen to or the nailpolish you wear (the bands you listen to aren’t even that rare. Half of the MTV population listens to that crap). Its either your attitude or just misinformed ideas on their end.
Get over it or get pissed. You pick.
I also really don’t get the idea of emo and goth. Everyone has emotions and I highly doubt anyone in their young years can replicate what the gothic times held. Two of the dumbest things I’ve ever heard of.
Better yet is when people openly call themselves either due to their appearance. Too fucking funny.
They should not stereotype you for any reason. Tell them that you aren’t emo or goth, but don’t hit them or anything. That will just make them want to say that even more because they know it bugs you. If that fails, try to eliminate things that would make them think that you are emo or goth. Don’t stop liking the music you enjoy, just don’t openly display your affection for the bands, or music. Try to wear a lip gloss, or some form of color on your lips, and don’t wear too much black. Instead, pair a blue shirt with black pants, or denim jeans with a black shirt. Try a lighter color on your nails, and then they’ll figure out that you aren’t emo or goth, your just yourself. (That’s a compliment) Let your real personality shine, and don’t let all of your darker thoughts through, though it might be tough, it’ll work.
hiii there i have some ideas for you if your sick of it then maybe you should still listen to your music but dont dress in a black where a different color once in a while and maybe they’ll shut up or keep your music your look and tell them its you and you are what you are so they should be quiet about and leave them how they are thank you
stab them…
Alright…just so you know…Goth and Emo are two different stereotypes/genres. But because of what you listen to for music and how you dress, that is why people are calling you that, although I don’t understand how they get Emo as this is a preppy look (if you’ve ever met a real Emo, yes they’re preppy), not Goth. I often get called Goth as well, but I have a dark personality to go along with it and I know what a true Goth is, but I don’t label myself as one either. If you don’t want them calling you this anymore then dress differently. It’s as simple as that. And try explaining to them who you really are. Clothes are just part of your outside canvas, they don’t say anything about a person other than, "I know where they like to shop and what styles they like". It doesn’t tell your personality. If you want people to see that instead of your clothes, then show it!
next time they do it ounch them in theiir damn face threaghten them with ur emo magical powers i told this one girl i was gonna make her boobs shrink she never messed with me again scare them it works or go preppy like i did
Haha thats kinda funny .. "But I punched him anyway."
But umm just because you like emo-ish music [I do too .. Bullet For My Valetine is great] doesn’t mean you have dress goth all the time. I mean if its what you enjoy wearing thats cool that you’re unique, but people probably won’t stop being mean unless you tone down your stand-out style a little. I’m not saying you have to dress all in pink & go blonde or anything ;; just accent your outfits in black and wear PacSun or dELiA*S stuff maybe [they have really cute but not preppy at all clothes]. If I were you, I’d limit all-black outfits to once a week or so. I’d stay with the black nail polish though. I think it looks cool & even celebs wear that sometimes — its not really emo unless a guy wears it haha.
Good Luck!!!

For the record, there is little, to no difference between goth, emo and punk these days. If you aren’t old enough to remember when these subcultures started, then research it. Originally punk was over the top screaming political rants and the style reflected the "buuger off" attitude that put punks on the feared fringe of society. Emo was originally emotion based post-punk and it merged goth style with punk style. Goth was originally the dark side of emotional distress. And the style reflected internal despair. Though for a while goths were label by the masses as satanist due to missunderstanding of the subculture by fearful parents and problem caused by a few bad apples. Today, they have all been merged by a generation too young to remember the subcultures roots and the disire to expedite musical and fashion evolution/de-evolution. Much like country and rock.
As for being labeled, don’t let it get to you, easier said than done I know, but face it, you’re going to be labeled in one way or another for the rest of uour life. It’s a human thing.
I have the same problem! Except I’m male. Look, don’t let it get to you. They want that to happen. Just ignore it. You’re better then them. "Normal" people just like rap songs about sex anyway. Oh, what a life they have, eh? Anyway. Shrug it off. I would suggest kicking their asses to you but I don’t think girls do that. Heh, anyway. They’re retarded. Tell them to sod off. <3 AFI is love.
change your look you are wanting attention what do you expect…!!!
Ignore them. And ask them if they even know what they’re talking about since most of those people don’t even know what emo was originally about. I hope you don’t think AFI is emo, because they’re not.
