what does absinthe have in it besides alchohol that makes you" high",or euphoric? Is it legal.Whats a good site?

A friend of mine went to Cape Cod in Massachusetts and said that he tried real absinthe there, bought in a liquor store. He says that it’s just been legalized, can anyone tell me more about this?
