I love to wear black, listen to gothic music, and wear black crosses. Anyway, she told me I looked stupid and I was a gothic freak. I now feel very insecure about myself.

Oh, I’m not gothic, btw. If I were, I would own a trench coat, but I don’t (It’s on my birthday list, though. They look so comfortable).
Bauhaus is an amazing band, btw!!!

My friend is doing a project for his sociology class on goth subculture, and he asked me to make him a cd of bands that influenced goth music. So far I have bauhaus, sisters of mercy, siouxsie and the banshees, the cure, and alien sex fiend. Is there anything I’m missing?

NOT stuff like AFI and My Chemical Romance.

What are some good goth bands?
Aside from the obvious (obvious= Siouxsie, The Cure, Bauhaus, Sisters of Mercy, Depeche Mode)

Ex. Bauhaus, The Cure, Christian Death.

NOT industrial, GOTH.

I’ve started to get into 80’s goth music, like Bauhaus, but I don’t know of many of those types of bands. Does anyone know of any? Slipknot, My Chemical Romance…That is NOT goth. I’m talking about the real music.

Do you think that’s weird? I mostly like goth music from the 80s even though It was before my time. When I tell people I listen to it they don’t believe me and ask why I don’t look goth.

i love nightwish switchblade symphony epica basicly anything in the melodic/symphonic gothy genre. id like to discover some more bands. i know all the old ones the birthday party souixie and the banshees echo and the bunnymen death in june bauhaus… newer ones please?

im tired of ppl who say they are goth and they promote the stereo type that goths shop a t hottopic. most fo the ppl who calim they are goth are actually another style of punk. most of the people who claim to be goth tell me that there favorite goth band is something like my chemical romance. they obviously do not know what goth music is. and when i ask them if they listen to bauhaus, sisters of mercy, siouxsie and the banshee they say no. i ask them if they know what industrial music is they say no. i am just trying to make a statement about ppl who claim to be goth but truely are not.

This is a hard one…

Interested in what you guys have to day, for me it’s The Cure hands down, in their gothic phase of course (Pornography, Seventeen Seconds, Faith). Bauhaus is a close contender…
