i know its illegal in the US, but i heard you can drink absinthe in Europe and that its a hallucigen.. just wondering if anyones ever experienced that
Imported from Europe.
According to my Lawyer (Baker & McKenzie) Absinthe is LEGAL in Mexico.
I only hear it referenced to europe but I’m hearing it in some american contexts. Also let me explain that I come from a family of teetotalers which means we aren’t allowed to have any alcohol. I’m just curious.
if you know a true link please send it. its for my uncle hes from europe and been livin here for a while and i wanna surprise him.
A friend of mine went to Cape Cod in Massachusetts and said that he tried real absinthe there, bought in a liquor store. He says that it’s just been legalized, can anyone tell me more about this?
To Andy’s response- I know that thujone levels are now regulated in Europe, does anyone know if the thujone levels in Absinthe in the U.S. will be lower than the levels in Europe?
I live in the US and I’m going to Europe in a few months. A few of my friends have talked about bringing back a bottle. Could I really do it? And how?
I know it is legal so don’t tell me its not just because you haven’t heard! Also I heard the brands getting through are not as potent as those in other parts of Europe, is that true too? But mainly where can I find it, even the stuff maybe not made with wormwood. Im in Dallas, TX so the closer to there the better.
My dad recently moved and I found a bottle of Absinthe in his house he bought in the 80’s in Europe. What is the proper way to activate the wormwood and drink this liquor?
So I hear that absinthe is now being legally imported by makers from France and Switzerland. Even a spirit distillery in CA is producing it. My question is can military members purchase and drink it legally? I hear of soldiers bringing it back to U.S. after serving in Germany and declaring it at customs when they arrive. Are there any laws or UCMJ regulations that prohibit use in the military?
On the topic of hallucigenic properties, thujone is what made it illegal. In order for it to be legally imported here, thujone has to be under a certain percent. And the hallucigenic rumors have been scientifically disproved. I may be wrong, but to me this places it under the same category as tobacco and alcohol. It is just a strong liquor. Everclear is much stronger. Just doesn’t have thujone. Oh, and I didn’t see anything about it on the History channel. I came across some fellow soldiers who brought some when they came back from Europe.
So if it’s still illegal, why am I seeing on the internet that in March 2007, two brands of absinthe (Lucid and Kübler) became the first genuine absinthes legally imported into the United States since 1912? This was following the independent efforts by representatives of each brand to topple the longstanding U.S. ban. In December 2007, St. George Absinthe Verte, produced by St. George Spirits of Alameda, California, became the first brand of American-made absinthe to be legally produced in the United States since the enactment of the ban.
Why do you people bother answering if you are just going to say I dont know?! Is there some point to that?
You can get absinthe online, or at the liquor store. Its legal now in the US. But the better stuff you order online from Europe.
